Back in late 1997, the former Wisconsin State EC John Leekley, WB9SMM organized a group of amateur radio operators from Central and South-Eastern Wisconsin to setup an organized means of supplying the Weather Forecast Office Milwaukee / Sullivan (WFO MKX) with storm data from the field. |

Who are we? |
We are an organization that coordinates communication between WFO MKX and Amateur Radio operators in the field during severe weather operations. Members of this organization include the meteorological staff of WFO MKX, Amateur Radio operators who represent organizations involved with severe weather data collection, and people responsible for Amateur radio operations at WFO MKX. |

Why do we do this? |
The Sullivan Committee strives to coordinate all severe weather data collection activities between WFO MKX staff and the reporting Amateur Radio community. We wish to develop and maintain cooperation at the local level to report weather data in a clear and consistent manner. |

What are the Committee's Goals? |
The Sullivan Committee strives to coordinate all activities between WFO MKX and the reporting amateur radio community. We wish to develop cooperation at the local level to report weather data in a clear and consistent manner that the meteorologists may quickly analyze and issue warnings if necessary. We review the activation and network plans regularly, working with the meteorologists to ensure field operators collect the proper data. We propagate these changes throughout the system to ensure the best methods are implemented system wide. |

How can my group get involved? |
Tracking storms is a serious responsibility, not to be taken lightly. The Committee encourages all Amateur Radio Operators to be trained for weather-spotting activities. Equally important is the Committee's desire to use the information provided on this web site as a starting point for establishing their own programs, ensuring compatibility with our established communications system. Please examine our Spotter Links page for training information, or our Procedures page for report criteria for complete descriptions of our communications structure. |

How may I address a question to the Committee? |
This website is designed to explain many of the designed modes of operation for amateur severe weather reporting for the WFO MKX. If you have any questions for the committee to examine, please see our Contacts page. |
