Follow-up Reports SulCom Summer Weather Program Occasionally Sullivan Weather will request a local net to provide supplemental information for a received report. When this happens the relay station will use the word "Follow-up" rather than the condition used for a standard report when providing the reply to the request. The use of "Follow-up" alerts Sullivan Weather that the information about to be received is referenced from an already-observed event rather than a new/separate event. Initiation of communications for the follow-up report and for the standard report is the same. However, information in the follow-up report will not necessarily have the same content or format as what would be heard in a standard report. Relay Station to Sullivan Weather Here is an example of communications on the backbone (between the Relay Station and Sullivan Weather) for replying to a request for a follow-up report: Relay Station: "67 Relay, Follow-up" Sullivan Weather: "67 Relay, Go ahead" Relay Station: "Reference 4:35pm observation at 0.8 Northeast Oconomowoc,..(information requested by Sullivan Weather)..." Sullivan Weather: "Roger 67 Relay" Relay Station: "WA9XXX" Sullivan Weather: "WX9MKX" Here is what the above report would look like if the optional lat/long coordinates of 43.15125N 88.49466W are available: Relay Station: "67 Relay, Follow-up" Sullivan Weather: "67 Relay, Go ahead" Relay Station: "Reference 4:35pm observation at 0.8 Northeast Oconomowoc, four three point one five one two five, eight eight point four nine four six six, (information requested by Sullivan Weather)..." Sullivan Weather: "Roger 67 Relay" Relay Station: "WA9XXX" Sullivan Weather: "WX9MKX" Field Spotter to Local Net/Team Environment Field spotters can use a similar format for providing followup information to the local net/local team. However, it is up to the local team management to determine their processes. Here is what the above would look like Spotter: "N9ONE, Follow-up" NCS: "Go ahead" Spotter: "Reference 4:35pm observation at 0.8 Northeast Oconomowoc,..(information requested by Sullivan Weather)..., N9ONE." NCS: " WA9YYY" Here is what the above report would look like if the optional lat/long coordinates of 43.15125N 88.49466W are available: Spotter: "N9ONE, Follow-up" NCS: "Go ahead" Spotter: "Reference 4:35pm observation at 0.8 Northeast Oconomowoc, four three point one five one two five, eight eight point four nine four six six, (information requested by Sullivan Weather)..., N9ONE." NCS: " WA9YYY" !! IMPORTANT NOTE !! Sullivan Weather will determine the necessity and precedence of follow-up information as they deem necessary. Follow-up reports are not to be submitted unless specifically requested by Sullivan Weather. followup.doc 1/1/2008 SulCom 2 of 2
